ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Wear Orange, Speak Truth
Gawii Wiikaa Ga-Nendimisii (Never Ever Forget Me) is an initiative by Deshkan Ziibiing (also known as Chippewas of the Thames First Nation) born out of the need to never ever forget what happened to our Warriors (Survivors). They were strong in saying no child should ever go through what they went through. It is also about addressing the cultural genocide which diminished our traditional and cultural ways of living.
Join us for a weekend of music, art, and community as we come together to honour Truth and Reconciliation. Wear orange, speak truth, and make a difference.
The Gawii Wiikaa Ga-Nendimisii (Never Ever Forget Me) Festival is a gathering of heart and purpose. Over three days, we invite you to experience incredible live music, explore unique Indigenous art, shop for authentic Indigenous-made treasures you cannot find anywhere else, and most importantly, come together in support of Truth and Reconciliation.
Gawii Wiikaa Ga-Nendimisii is a celebration with a purpose: It’s about coming together through music and art while reflecting on the history of residential schools in Canada. Whether you’re already familiar with Truth and Reconciliation – or learning about it for the first time – we welcome you to be part of the journey toward healing and understanding.
Proceeds from the festival will go to the Save the Barn Project, which will preserve the last standing structure of the Mount Elgin Indian Industrial School on Deshkan Ziibiing (also known as Chippewas of the Thames First Nation)
Join us for a weekend of incredible music, art, and education—all in the spirit of remembrance and healing.
